Breastfeeding Varies Dramatically By State In Initiation And Duration, USA

States in the West and Northwest had higher breastfeeding initiation estimates than other parts of the United States. Using data from a nationally representative study of 33,121 children from six to 71 months, researchers attempted to account for the wide state variations of breastfeeding rates in the United States and the impact of socio-demographic and behavioral factors and state legislation on these differences.
