Vitamin D Supplements found to be Safe for Pregnant Women
Vitamin D has come a long way, baby. As we learn more about the wonders of vitamin D, the Dietary Reference Intake (DRI) or minimum amount of vitamins and minerals we should consume daily, continues to increase. In 2010, the DRI for vitamin D was increased from 400 IU (international units) to 600 IU daily. High levels of vitamin D were once thought to be toxic, but more and more research concludes ‘optimum’ levels far surpass even the current DRI. It was also previously thought that expecting women should not take extra vitamin D but a recent study found that is yet another vitamin D misconception. (more…)
